Recently I was traveling on a short flight and was reminded why I struggle in public places, especially where deadlines and large numbers of humans are gathered all at once. It wasn’t as bad as the moment I got off the plane in San Francisco after being in Paris for a week and literally said, “I want to go back! Americans are so embarrassing and annoying!”, but it certainly left me with a sour taste in my mouth. The culture here in the US is getting to be downright rude at times, so here are a few of my pet peeves and how we can all work a little harder at traveling well so that everyone can have a pleasant vacation. Really this all comes down to basic courtesies and taking agency for ourselves. Or, as I heard someone say recently our society needs "more us and we and less I and me"
This list is far from exhaustive, so if there is something important I missed, please leave a comment! Xo, Michelle
