When I moved into my house over 7 years ago, I remember getting a giant plate of cookies and fudge at Christmas from the neighbor next door. Unfortunately, because it was all touching, I didn't eat a single thing on that plate the first year. But, as I got to know Judie more and more, she began to make sure I got my very own plate full of gluten free treats!! It was an extra special Christmas gift. Since then, she and I have been through a lot together with gardening, pets, and neighborhood events. We watch each-others homes when either of us goes out of town and makes sure that the aphids don't eat every stitch of yummy stuff that we grow. When my husband is out of town, there is a good chance she and I will end up eating potato salad, shooting the breeze and barbecuing something together. At this point I think of her more as a friend than as a neighbor, especially on those days that she surprises me with her Christmas fudge at other times of the year. This is an old family recipe of hers, so I have asked for her permission to share, but can tell you that I think she has some kind of magic that makes it turn out better than anyone else. That extra helping of love and wisdom makes everything taste better.
